Who
can join AAUW?
The only requirement
for membership is that you hold an associate's degree or its equivalent,
or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
How much are annual dues?
National dues
are $49.00 per year until 2009, Pennsylvania
state dues are $10.00, and local dues are determined by each branch.
Average cost is about $70-80 per year.
What if I don't want to join a local branch? Can I still be a member?
Yes. You can
also choose to support AAUW initiatives at the national level only.
Member-at-large dues are $49.00 until 2009, and if you wish you can also join the state for
another $10.00.
Does
AAUW have a large membership?
Yes. There
are more than 100,000 members nationwide making the American Association
of University Women a powerful voice for women and girls..
As
a member, how do I know what is going on in AAUW?
Members receive
AAUW's magazine, AAUW Outlook which
contains newsworthy articles and close-ups of women who are vitally
engaged in making a difference
and making changes in all our lives. AAUW also has a website that encompasses
all aspects of the organization at www.aauw.org.
Pennsylvania members also receive quarterly copies of The Keystoner.
What
is the AAUW Educational Foundation?
The AAUW
Educational Foundation, founded in 1888, is the largest non-university fund available
to women. It supports six fellowship and grant programs that together
have helped more than 6,000 women follow their dreams and make a difference
in the lives of women and girls all over the world.
How
much money does the Foundation award during an average year?
$3,500,000!!
What
is the Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF)?
Very simply, LAF supports women who are fighting sex discrimination in the workplace.
How
long has the Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) existed?
LAF was established
in 1981. Pennsylvania raised over $76,000 in conjunction with EF
for the 75th AAUW-PA Anniversary
Diamond Donor campaign in 2003.
